Communication Folder

Your child will bring their Communication Folder home each Friday.  You should look over any papers that are inside.  Let your child know that you are excited and interested in what they are doing.  Don't forget to sign the folder and send it back to school on Monday.

Homework Folders

Homework folders will be sent home each day that there is an assignment.  I have only prepared one folder for each student, so I encourage everyone to take very good care of it.  Be sure to complete and return the assignment the next school day.  Ask someone in your family to help you only if you need it.

Medication

Please fill out the Medical Information card that will be kept on file in our Nurse's Office.  This information must be on record before medication can be administered to your child.  If your child needs to take medicine during the school day, please send the medication in the original container with a note stating the dosage and time.  Teachers can not give any medication without a written request.

Snack/Candy Store

Snacks and drinks may be purchased at school for 50¢ each.   You may also choose to bring a snack from home.  Students can bring snacks on a daily basis or bring enough for an entire week. Many parents send five individually wrapped snacks in a large Ziploc bag to ensure that their child has something each day.  Our class eats at 11:30 each day and by the end of the day everyone is ready for a snack.

Library Books

You will need to complete a Library Permission Slip before your child can check out a book.  Our class goes to the Media Center each week.  1st Grade students may check books out on a daily basis.  Reading is one of the easiest things you can do with your child to contribute to their success.  Mrs. Pickett teaches us to treat our library books like we would treat babies.  As always, any damages must be paid for, so encourage your child to take good care of their library book.

Money

It will be necessary for your child to bring money to school  throughout the year.  You can help make our classroom run smoothly and prevent a possible error by taking time to include the following somewhere on an envelope:

1.  Your child's first and last name,
2.  the amount of money,
3.  the purpose for the money (snack, lunch, book orders, field trips, etc.), and
4.  your teacher's name.
