Monitor
Another term for display screen. A monitor is the most commonly used
output device on most personal computer systems. Two basic types of
monitors are used with PCs. The first looks like a TV screen and
works the same way, using a large vacuum tube, called cathode ray tube
(CRT). The second is known as a flat-panel display. All monitors can be
categorized by the way they display colors. Can you recognize Monochrome
Monitors, Grayscale Monitors and Color Monitors?

The Invention of Monitor
|
 |
The earliest computers were
little more than gigantic calculators controlled by large panels of
switches, dials, and buttons. Visual displays were uncommon until the
1960s. Because of our modern output technologies, computers are more
friendly and attractive to us. Whether you are going to buy a CRT monitor
or a flat-panel monitor, you need to consider resolution, color, desktop
space requirements, viewable area, viewing angle, screen curvature,
radiation emission and cost.
